TOWER Project
In our longitudinal project TOWER, which will last for three years, we are investigating the short and long-term effects of interactions between the family and the school environment on the academic-cognitive and social-emotional development of the child.
In the KULE, the same mother-child pairs and the teacher of the classes in which the children attend will be interviewed in 3 different times/rounds (1. first semester of kindergarten 2. second semester of kindergarten 3. second semester of primary school) in order to gather information about the variables related to the family, school, neighborhood and child.
In this context, we examine the effects of families' attitudes towards child-rearing and formal education and the quality variables in kindergarten on child development from a broad perspective, taking into account other factors related to family (socio-economic statues of family, physical and mental health characteristics), child (age, gender, temperament, physical and mental health characteristics of child) and neighborhood (physical and mental characteristics of the neighborhood). In addition, at the end of the study, we aim to set quality standards for preschool education institutions and share it with the Ministry of National Education of Turkey.
